Introductions All Around
First of all, thank you for coming to visit my website. There are countless other things you could be doing on the internet that are probably more interesting than reading my frantic ramblings, and yet, here you are. I really appreciate it!
A little about me: I’ve called myself/this blog Disciple Geek because that’s what I am. My name is Trey and I’m a 30 something Christian computer geek. I’ve been happily married since 2005 to a wonderful woman that is I like to think of as a Proverbs 31 geek. In my spare time I do geeky things like tear down and rebuild computers, dabble in logo and web design as well as web-based programming (php and possibly soon asp.net.) I collect and play video games, run pen and paper role playing games (like Dungeons and Dragons,) and now, I blog. From time to time I also attempt to draw, but due to my perfectionist personality, most drawings never get further than a few squiggles before I give up.
This website? Why? Ultimately, I’ve built this website to help myself get some perspective on the things I accomplish. Sometimes I feel like I’m going through life doing so much but never getting anything done. This website is supposed to help with that. Here I will keep a record of all the projects and “things” I do, so that hopefully, when I’m feeling a little down and out I can look at it and go, “Hey, I’ve actually done quite a bit.”
Another reason for this website is to help me attain some focus in my bible studies. I want to do more than just read through the Bible (something I’ve still somehow managed to avoid and something I want to correct.) I want to focus on specific topics, really sink my teeth into the meat of the Bible. To do this I plan on writing articles and posting them here. Since this is an open blog, I want to encourage you to read these articles and comment on them. However, I must insist that before doing so, you go read The Disciple Geek Challenge. I want to not only keep the discussions civil, but Scriptural too and I feel that what I’ve come up with in The Challenge will go a long ways towards both of those goals.
I also plan on using this like a standard blog as well, posting my thoughts and random musings, along with any news articles or other write ups I find interesting. This website is going to be more or less me, in digital format, or as close to it as I can get.
Don’t be surprised if from time to time you return to the site and see that it has changed, I have a tendency to tinker with my designs and there’s a few things that I feel need some work still. Anyway, I hope that this site — while mostly a selfish endeavor — proves to be helpful and interesting for everyone who comes.
Thanks again for visiting,
Trey (Disciple Geek)
